Mission Statement

The Center for Adoption Studies promotes the adoption of children from the child welfare system and elevates their well being and that of their families, by maintaining an active research program that increases adoption knowledge and is a basis for improving adoption policy and practice in our State and in the nation.

Center Goals

  • The Center for Adoption Studies will initiate, implement, and disseminate a research agenda that will advance public child welfare adoption knowledge and inform policy about child permanency through adoption.
  • The Center for Adoption Studies will provide leadership and resources in the development of post adoption services and the development and dissemination of knowledge to advance adoption practice.
  • The Center for Adoption Studies will serve as a repository of information of adoption research, policies, and practice in the United States.
  • The Center for Adoption Studies will work collaboratively with adoption and child welfare organizations to promote the adoption of children from the child welfare system and to support families after adoption.
